Ortofon

The 2M Series
2M are designed for precise and accurate retrieval of the information in the record groove. Our philosophy is to play the record sound as accurate as possible, without coloring the sound. We have optimized the design for ease of mounting the cartridge, weight and size to fit the most common turntables at the market today. The name 2M was selected among several ideas. We wanted a modern name that would be easy to pronounce and to remember, and therefore an alphanumerical name was chosen. 2M means MM, which is the abbreviation for moving magnet.

MC Quintet

The MC Quintet Series is congruent with Ortofon’s unrelenting commitment to providing the most precise and accurate reproduction possible without coloration.

A special ABS (Acrylonitrile/Butadiene/Styrene) thermoplastic material is used for manufacturing of the body. This lightweight, impact resistant material is very suitable for injection molding and provides a very durable scratch resistant surface. Neodymium magnets are implemented to achieve an optimal output. Low internal impedance makes the cartridge less sensitive to load and therefore ensures compatibility with the widest range of preamps and transformers.

MC ANNA
Ortofon’s MC Anna represents the highest echelon of moving coil cartridges. This state-of-the-art product, representative of numerous Ortofon design elements and ideals, and is truly exemplary of the highest degree of performance possible in contemporary analogue playback technology. Ortofon dedicates this flagship cartridge to the opera singer Anna Netrebko, a virtuoso whose performance displays a formidable technical arsenal of endless versatility. With the dedication of the MC Anna, Ortofon emphasizes the company’s unchanging commitment and devotion to the music and to the purest delivery of recorded sound. Much like Anna Netrebko, Ortofon aspires to provide the ultimate musical experience through a mixture of innovation and technical expertise, combined with inspiration that goes beyond mere thought to reveal true inner emotion.

MC Cadenza Series

The Kontrapunkt models and MC Jubilee became market standards and are among our most popular cartridges. Nevertheless Ortofon decided to develop a new cartridge series that is even more ambitious. By carefully implementing cobalt-iron pole pieces, new improved winding process on the armature, using extruded aluminum housing in the models as well as other changes, we have been able to reveal new possibilities in performing the analogue information.

It was also decided to make a more complete range of cartridges, which meant an introduction of a moving coil Cadenza Mono model to support our customers, who have an extended interest in micro groove mono records. Cadenza (from Italian: meaning cadence) refers to a portion of a concert in which the orchestra stops playing, leaving the soloist to play alone in free time, without a strict, regular pulse.
